I wish I knew this when I started...


Hey Reader,

My daughter just started her junior year of high school!

She’ll be driving in about 6 months, and I can hardly believe it.

It feels like only yesterday she was 18 months old, and I decided she needed a little table and chair.

That was when I realized I could actually build things! And just like that, my woodworking journey began.

Of course, like any good story, it didn’t happen overnight. There were plenty of mistakes, wasted materials, and “figuring it out as I went” moments. My engineering background helped me shorten the learning curve a little bit, but honestly, I wish someone had just laid it all out clearly for me in the beginning.

So, if you’re just starting, here are a few lessons that would have saved me a lot of frustration:
